The idea behind it is simple; practicing hard and practicing right pays off. It weighs just under three pounds and develops positive muscle memory to make passes harder and shots stronger. And with replaceable DryLand nylon sliders on one side, it is the ideal training tool for dryland as well. The Pügi has been used by Olympic, NHL and Collegiate teams to train with and to strengthen their shooting, passing and all around hockey skills. It has been trusted by many hockey camps, training facilities, skills coaches and many more because it simply works. Players are forced to use proper form when shooting and passing with the Pügi because of its size and weight. While other training aids might allow for improper use such as flipping the puck off the toe of the stick, the Big Puck needs to start on the heal and roll off the toe. Engagement of the entire body (as players are supposed to do in the game of hockey), including your legs and core, and a full follow through are necessary to generate enough force to move it.
