Volkl’s RTM skis are perfect for someone looking for a more traditional, frontside carving ski that has additional width underfoot. Loaded with Volkl’s UVO dampening system and a wood-based core, the RTM’s give off a smooth feel at high speeds while their 3D.Ridge Technology provides a thicker channel down the center of the ski and a thin sidewall that reduces overall weight. Volk’s newly designed 3D.Glass construction adds extra stability and power along the ski’s sidewalls. While there are several models of the RTM’s available based on the skis’ width underfoot, the RTM 76’s with the vMotion 1 binding system are an ideal match for any beginner or intermediate skier. 

### Expert Notes

The Volkl RTM line is among the easiest skis to turn in, and overall are one of the most stable, sought-after all-mountain skis on the market. The 3D Ridge construction serves to provide torsional stiffness that shortens periods of chatter. The XTD Tip and Tail (aka early rise tip and tail) results in a more centralized contact point between the ski and the snow, providing unmatched swing weight for blower tree skiing and quick mogul runs. The RTM and an under-foot camber profile gives the skier stable edge grip and consistent contact throughout on-piste arcs. These skis will let you ride aggressively with little effort.

Volkl Yumi women’s skis are designed for intermediate to advanced skiers who want a ski that rides smoothly on groomers, but is also completely capable of handling difficult conditions like heavy snow and crud. The Yumi is stable through  turns, can blast through crud, and provides a solid edge grip when the snow turns to ice. The Tip and Tail Rocker makes these skis easy to maneuver in and out of turns while the camber underfoot optimizes edge grip. Volkl Mantra is an all-mountain ski capable of carving on piste at high speeds, floating through powder, and cutting through crud. Completely redesigned in 2019, the Volkl Mantra M5 changed from a fully rockered profile to having a camber underfoot. which makes this version more capable of blasting through crud and ripping on hardpack. The sidecut was also increased in 2019 for a shorter turn radius with more energy and pop. The Titanal Frame Technology keeps these skis smooth and stable no matter what your speed is. The P-Tex 2100 Base provides great gliding characteristics and increases the overall durability of the skis. The Multi-layer woodcore -- constructed from a mix of beech and poplar -- keeps these skis lightweight and poppy. The Volkl Mantra has long been crowned the “Crud King,” and the ability to absorb the impact of skiing through the crud is a trademark of a true all mountain ski.


### Expert Notes

The Mantra has been a household name for years now. Currently on the third generation of the Mantra, Volkl has essentially perfected the design for this line of skis. The original Mantra – pre-2015 – was best at ripping on hard snow, but still held its own off piste. The second generation Mantras – 2015-2018 – changed up some bits and pieces and moved away from its hard snow capabilities and more towards being a back country ski. We’d argue that it may have shifted a little too much, and was no longer a great option for hard pack. The newest generation – The M5 – has taken steps back toward the original Mantra and combines the best of both worlds. Whether it’s blasting through crud, ripping groomers, or floating in the backcountry, these latest Mantras can handle it all.

Volkl Revolt skis are a playful all-mountain twin-tip that are best suited for beginner to intermediate level freestyle skiers. The Revolt offers solid performance in the park, but is also completely capable enough to be playful all over the mountain. A Full Sidewall Construction provides optimal edge grip and torsional strength for additional responsiveness. Carbon Stringers inside the Multi-Layer Wood Core add some extra snap and pop to the ski when catching air. Rocker in the tip and tail increases the maneuverability of the skis to provide a sense of confidence and ease all over the mountain. All in all, these are an incredibly versatile ski.
