# True Pro Custom Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

True Custom Hockey Skates are built with a focus on individual foot anatomy, using a 3D scanning process to create personalized shells for optimal fit and performance. This customization is a significant departure from traditional, off-the-shelf skates, and represents a continued commitment to innovation within the True brand. True was founded by Scott Van Horne, a figure with over 30 years of experience in the custom skate industry, and their focus on individualized performance reflects this heritage.

### Perfect skates for:

every player who values a customized fit

### Key features include:

* Leverages a 3D Anatomical Foot Scan
* Thermoformable material to enhance fit and neuromuscular connection with the ice
* Redesigned CARV toecap features a sleek design aesthetic in an even lighter package
* Antimicrobial liner compliments the multi-layered construction with improved moisture-wicking
* Pro-level stell and holder offer improved durability and enhanced blade security
* GENETIX insole offers two different fit systems to accommodate low/mid and high arches.

### Top competitors comparison: the [Supreme 2S Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/supreme-2s-pro/l7798) and the [CCM JetSpeed FT2](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft2-2/l11100)

The Bauer Supreme 2S Pro skates offer a comparable level of customization as the True Pro Custom skates, with a focus on power and stability. They feature a lightweight, anatomically fitting design for maximum power transfer and a customizable fit with their patented Flex Edge technology. The Supreme 2S Pro skates also utilize the Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holder for quick blade changes. In comparison, the CCM JetSpeed FT2 skates provide a customizable fit with a one-piece boot design for improved responsiveness and control. They feature an ultra-lightweight construction and a Rocketframe composite material for enhanced stiffness and agility. The JetSpeed FT2 skates also feature the Speedblade Xchange system for easy and quick blade changes.

### Progression:

True Hockey, a relatively younger brand compared to established giants like Bauer, has offered a more streamlined approach to its skate lineup, particularly with its flagship True Pro Custom skate. This translates to fewer model variations and a clearer focus on refinement over major overhauls.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are like an extension of my feet. The custom-fitting process means almost no break-in period. The comfort level is incredible, and I can skate for hours without any pain or discomfort.
* The boot is super responsive and allows for maximum energy transfer in my strides. The heat-moldable option lets you customize the flex profile to your liking, which is a game-changer.
* The skates feel incredibly lightweight, which helps with agility and maneuverability. Despite the lightweight build, the materials seem very durable. I've been using them for a season now, and they're still holding up great.

CONS:

* These skates are definitely an investment. The custom fitting process adds to the cost, which might not be feasible for everyone.
* The custom fitting process takes time, and there can be a waitlist to get your skates made. If you need skates right away, this might not be the best option.
* While the custom fitting is great in theory, it might not be perfect for everyone. Some users with very complex foot shapes might still experience some fit issues.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The True Pro Custom are the skates I currently use. They're fantastic. The durability on these is just otherworldly. I've used my Pro Customs for over two years, and they still hold up great. In being custom, a lot of the holders (what keeps the steel in) can be swapped out. They will feature the quick-release Bauer version, or you'll see these skates with the quick-release CCM version. When you're looking for these skates, you can pretty much find whatever you desire.

### Product Description

True Skates by Scott Van Horn are evolutionary in skate design with new technologies. The TRUE Monoform design allows for increased power transfer for stronger strides and more edge control with a forward tilt that keeps the knees always leaning forward. These skates are custom made with 3D Thermoforming to the player’s foot, eliminating dead space and loss of energy. A tough exterior protects the foot while the TRUE Toecap provides extended protection and comfort with a Monocoque shell. An Antimicrobial and Hydrophobic liner keeps the foot dry and ventilation holes allow for increased airflow to enhance comfort. StepSteel Canadian blades allow for smooth gliding while TRUE’s BenchChange technology allows for quick blade replacements using just a simple tool.

### Expert Notes

Any player who has experimented and played with top-of-the-line skates from a variety of brands will tell you that True VH skates are hands down some of the best yet. As far as a custom fitting boot, these exceed any other skate by far. There are no pressure points or pinching areas anywhere in the skate that could not be corrected with a mold. The fit alone produces an unbelievable feel and response on the ice and it’s not surprising why the presence of these wheels continues to increase at the professional level.
