### Product Description

East Coast Dyes Hero Mesh is one of the first lacrosse stringing meshes built with two different types of fibers woven into the core of the mesh. This technology is able to increase feel and hold, while also developing rigid sides to literally rocket the ball out of the customized pocket. This is called Zone Tech, in which the inner channel is made of LTH and the outer channel is made of LTC fibers. Since the LTH fibers are softer and more flexible, this allows the ball to be funneled towards the center of the pocket and sit comfortably. The mesh is also hydrophobic, meaning the mesh is unfazed by water. This makes ECD Hero Mesh an ideal option if you’re playing in rain or snow on a fairly regular basis. The mesh is available in semi-soft and semi-hard options in a wide variety of colors and designs, so you can customize it to match your team colors.

### Expert Notes

East Coast Dyes Hero Mesh was specifically designed to give players the most amount of feel and grip while keeping the weave light, durable, and game-ready in all weather conditions. It comes in two different sizes: a 10 Diamond for all field use, including attack, midfield, or defense; or, a 12D option for goalies who are looking for a consistent way to clear and a great mesh for no rebounds. Hero mesh is available in a ton of different colors so expressing yourself is not an issue.

Carving a space in the offensive arena, the ECD Ion Head takes on established contenders like the Maverik Optik 3.0 and STX Surgeon 900, each offering distinct advantages. The Maverik Optik 3.0 champions customization with its interchangeable faceplate technology, allowing players to tailor the pocket to their preferences. It boasts a mid-pocket design suitable for both powerful shots and controlled passing. The STX Surgeon 900, on the other hand, caters to players who value traditional pocket feel and precise passing. Its wider face shape and deeper pocket offer optimal hold and control over the ball, making it ideal for those who prioritize pinpoint accuracy. The ECD Ion stands out for its lightweight design and focus on speed, making it a great choice for fast-paced offensive players. Its tight face shape and mid-low pocket encourage quick releases and powerful throws on the run.

### Progression:

While the Ion doesn't have a directly traceable predecessor, it benefits from ECD's existing knowledge, player feedback, and understanding of the attack lacrosse head market.

### What people are saying (edited for brevity and clarity)

Pros:

* The Ion feels light and well-balanced. It allows for fast shots and accurate passing and catching. Cradling is comfortable.
* Surprisingly great. The clear plastic really looks awesome. Doesn’t feel brittle like the older clear plastic heads including the DNA diamond.
* This head has all the best qualities of the Maverik Optik 3.0 with an even tighter release.

Cons:

* I like this head - it's light and performs great. But, it's too fragile. I've had two breaks in 8 months at the throat. If it were more durable, it'd be the best ever.
* Used this new lacrosse head in college practice and after 7-8 months it cracked near the throat. Love the color and design but not perfect yet.
* It's been working okay for me. Was not easy at first to string the right pocket.

### Expert Review (by [Allen Melick](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/EmpireSports))

The Ion is ECD’s lightest head on the market and is designed for quick attackmen. ECD features a new design with the Ion, the Diamond Plastic, which is their new see-through durable plastic. The face of this head was designed to be more aerodynamic and the sidewall holes set up the perfect mid-low pocket.
