Great pop

This is a great one piece aluminum bat. It is an excellent bat for an early age (8-10u) travel ball. It has a lot of pop. It gives a very satisfying "ping" when good contact is made. I highly recommend it for young players who don't have a lot of strength.

Plenty of Pop

We got our 29” drop 10 Cat 9 about a week after ordering it. The price was right and other than a few scratches on the finish it looked great. My 8 year old hit nukes all season long off of this thing and it was not hard at all for him to get the ball on that big 2 3/4” barrel. Never complained abo…

Durable Hot Bat

It’s a great intro to travel ball bat. There are lots of super expensive hot bat, but this bat at used market is fantastic.

Nine just doesn't stand for nine innings. You bet…

I like the skinnier handle with the bigger knob for more bat control and speed. The sweet spot is sweeter than a corked fungo talking to Martian.

Marucci CAT9 Composite Baseball Bats

The Marucci CAT 9 Composite bat is a two-piece composite bat found in USSSA, USA, and BBCOR. Unlike its alloy counterparts within the CAT series, the CAT 9 Composite provides a massive barrel and balanced swing. The connection piece helps absorb mishit balls’ sting and is identical to the one used on the BBCOR CAT 8 Connect.

Perfect bat for:
Players who see a lot of games, high pitch speeds, and who don’t mind a barrel-heavy bat.

Key features include:

Multi-Directional CompositeCreates an ultra-responsive barrel that offers a performance advantage across the entire hitting surface.
Maximum Barrel LengthProvides a larger sweet spot and potential for off-center hits to still travel far and fast.
SDX LT ConnectionReduces vibration on contact, delivering a more comfortable hitting experience.
Ring-Free Barrel ConstructionEliminates dead spots for a more consistent performance.
Micro-Perforated Soft-Touch GripEnsures comfortable, secure handling even in rigorous play conditions.
Balanced Swing Weight Optimizes bat speed and control, offering a blend for hitters who value precision as much as power.

Top Competitors

The CF Zen is DeMarini's lightest swinging, most balanced composite bat. It features a two-piece construction and the Paraflex barrel. The 3-Fusion handle offers a reduced vibration and a flex on contact. The Easton ADV 360 is a two-piece, all-composite built with Launch Composite Technology. It features an iSo CXN connection piece and a DFS Carbon Handle.

Progression of the CAT 9 Composite

Here is a list that details the progression of this series, highlighting the main features and advancements with each new model.

2017 - CAT7 & CAT7 CONNECT
  • Features an upgraded AZ4X alloy for improved performance.

  • CAT7 has a one-piece alloy construction, while CAT7 Connect offers a two-piece hybrid design with a carbon composite handle.

  • Both models feature an increased sweet spot and an upgraded anti-vibration knob (AV2).

2019 - CAT8, CAT8 CONNECT, CAT COMPOSITE
  • The barrels of CAT8 and CAT8 Connect are constructed using the new AZ105 alloy for higher performance at the sweet spot.

  • Introduction of SDX EXT connection technology for a stiffer connection and improved energy transfer.

  • CAT Composite, a two-piece composite bat, is introduced with SDX EXT and ring-free barrel construction.

2021 - CAT9, CAT9 Connect, CAT9 Composite
  • New AZR alloy for a more responsive microstructure.

  • CAT9 features a 2nd Generation AV2 Anti-vibration knob and additional weight below the hands for better control.

  • CAT9 Connect introduces the Outer-Locking System (OLS) for an even stiffer connection and virtually zero vibrations.

👍 Pros
Super easy to swing and hit the ball. It has great balance.
This bat has it all. Pop and appearance. Easy to get good exit velo.
Big sweet spot and very durable. Has a great feel and sound to it.
👎 Cons
A few hits scuff paint off bat.
When it doesn’t get hit on the sweet spot it doesn’t go very far and stings.
It's a little pricey and I already broke it... but I’m going to buy a new one because it’s an awesome bat.
The CAT9 Composite comes in two designs across two generations. The first, released in 2021, is gray, black, and red. And then it came out in red, white, blue, and gray. The first model was a more powerful, higher-performing bat. It has more exit velocity and is a hotter bat than the 2nd gen. Very durable, with very little breakage. Marucci's, across the board, have been good bats in terms of quality; they seem to last. Whether you're a power hitter or a small kid, the CAT9 Composite does very well.
