### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Good bat, with less pop than 1-piece aluminum. Ideal for singles with a lighter swing weight. Composite material, so have 2 bats for high competition.
* My son is 11 years old. I was worried he would struggle to swing a 30/20 bat this year, considering he used a 29/19 bat last year. However, this bat is amazing! It is hot right out of the wrapper. I wouldn't even think about using another bat this year; this one is perfect.
* This is the best overall USA bat on the market. It has decent pop and great balance, making it a high-quality option.

**CONS**

* "The bat developed cracks in the sweet spot from regular use during batting practice. After six months, the cracks grew larger until there were two major ones, resembling a cave-in."
* Bat has pop but I've had a couple of friends crack this same bat after 4 games.
* Bought it for my son, 2nd time he used it, it cracked. He only hit league baseballs with it in warm weather.

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USSSA, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The CF Zen has been discontinued. The early models from 2017 - 2021 were called CF Zens. After that, DeMarini changed the name to CF. The first models of the CF Zen were very high-performance. But they also tended to break, so DeMarini made them stronger, made them stiffer, made them more durable. And when they did that, the bats didn't hit as well. The early models were better performers than the later models.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* This is an excellent one-piece bat with a balanced feel.
* My son is using his first BBCOR bat. Although he was previously using a -5 USSSA bat, he hasn't noticed any difference in the weight. He has already had success with it on the big ball field this fall. This one-piece alloy bat is great, especially in the Northeast where temperatures are cooler.
* I am very satisfied with this bat. My son has recently started playing on a 60/90 field. This bat has excellent balance and a large sweet spot. It has great pop right out of the wrapper, so there is no need to break it in. Additionally, it looks great too.

**CONS**

* Bat is too light, causing players to swing early. It doesn't have as much power as a BBCOR composite bat.
* Not suitable for heavy hitters; ideal for children who require a lighter bat for swinging. Grip must be perfect, or it will sting hands.
* The sound changed, and when the handle was tapped on the ground, it produced a vibrating sound.

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

DeMarini's Voodoo One swings light and offers a ton of pop thanks to its stiff one-piece alloy construction. While the small barrel might not be for everyone, contact hitters and power swingers both appreciate its speed and distance potential. If you're a player seeking a light bat with serious pop, the Voodoo One deserves a swing.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- My son hit three home runs with the Goods bat at a college prospect camp this weekend. He says the current version feels amazing and is the best one yet.

- I upgraded to this bat from my broken 2022 Goods. It has phenomenal pop and is the best in the Goods line.

- This bat bangs!!! I bought this bat three weeks ago and this barrel is huge!

**CONS**

- My son loved this bat from day one. After three weeks of use the plastic piece where the shaft meets the barrel cracked. Definitely expect something better than this for $450. Haven't started the warranty process yet so we'll see how that goes.

- The bat handle now telescopes into the barrel after the junction cracked. We had expected better quality for the price and it's hard to accept a replacement that arrives 2-3 weeks later at best.

- Bat bought 2 months ago broke when I dropped it. It's a good bat but not very durable. Connector piece broke and it telescoped.

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The Goods is a top performer and the 2024 model is the most expensive hybrid bat on the market. It's an end loaded bat for that power hitter in your lineup. The alloy is strong, and it has a good whip to it. Overall, The Goods is in the top five in the hybrids for both BBCOR and youth. The youth was less popular because it was a heavier-feeling.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* A kid in a slump hit his first-ever home run with this bat. It arrived just in time for a playoff game and worked great for my average-sized 11-year-old son - not too heavy.
* After breaking in this bat properly, it really performs well! My son uses it for our USSSA 8U Travel team and you can easily tell when it's hit on the sweet spot. The bat is also forgiving on mis-hits, often resulting in faster grounders than usual (for this age group) and very high pop.
* This bat has more pop than most USA bats, similar to BBCOR/USSA. We broke it in with tee hits, and my son hit missiles and balls over the fence on the first day. Expensive, but worth it for avid players.

**CONS**

* Great indoor results with the new non-Easton bat during coach pitch pre-season. Disappointing mid-season pop-up infield hits. I've always used Easton before, won't try other brands again.
* Great pop, but poor performance when missing sweet spot. Treated with care, but still cracked in Apr. Son upset I didn't allow use in cold weather, with heavy balls or pitching machines. It was mostly used as game bat last year, did not last into 2nd season.
* My son's bat barrel cracked after hitting his first HR, leaving him without a bat during All Stars and elimination series.

The DeMarini CF is a classic model that goes back to 2015 and offers one of the hottest models (2017) but is limited in use as its performance surpasses bat standards. Overall, the CF reflects a classic design which has been the same since 2015. A two-piece composite that offers a large barrel and sweet spot with a lightweight handle that creates a whip-like feel to it with the flexible connection between the handle and barrel.

* **Anomaly End Cap:** This precision-engineered end cap complements the Zoa's lightweight design, ensuring a blend of speed and balance that's rare in high-performance bats.

The DeMarini Zoa sets itself apart with its Continuous Fiber Composite Barrel, offering a unique blend of durability, power, and a vast sweet spot. While the Louisville Slugger Meta is renowned for its EKO composite barrel, emphasizing a combination of swing speed and barrel control, and the Easton Maxum Ultra is favored for its seamless carbon construction providing the longest barrel in the game, the Zoa specializes in delivering a high-performance hitting experience with enhanced feedback and energy transfer, making it a prime choice for competitive players aiming to maximize their impact at the plate.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My son just got a new bat to replace his META and it's great! It's hot out of the wrapper, has a forgiving barrel and almost no vibration. He absolutely crushed the ball. We can't wait to see how it performs when it's fully broken in.
* If you like end-loaded bats, this one has surprising pop with low noise. It feels good when squared up and I personally love it. My rating is 8/10.
* "This bat increased my exit velocity and feels smooth when swinging. It's the best bat I've ever used."

**CONS**

* This bat is heavy and can be hard to locate the barrel. I recommended for very strong players. If you swing a drop 5 alloy, try a drop 8 Zoa.
* Sounds dead. My son hates it. We bought this bat because of the good reviews. Its expensive and has no pop.
* Only downside is that the weather needs to be warmer or it will crack the bat due to it being all composite.

### **Certification**: BBCOR

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Zoa has a strong barrel and connection, making it a heavier, end loaded bat overall. Your smaller players don't get the same bat speed or same performance with that Zoa as they do with the CF. The Zoa is one of those power hitter two-piece composites.

* I bought this bat three weeks ago, and I must say that the barrel is massive! I had been using the Cat X for a while and decided to switch to a new bat. I picked up the Goods, and in my opinion, it's a far superior bat, especially if you're an experienced hitter.

**CONS**

* "My son loved using this $450 bat, but after three weeks the plastic piece where the shaft meets the barrel cracked. Haven't started the warranty process yet. Another review mentioned a similar issue, so buyer beware!"
* Bat bought 3 months ago. Loved the balance and pop but junction cracked. Handle now telescopes into barrel. Expected better quality for price. Replacement in 2-3 wks hard to accept. Will stick with one-piece bat.
* Brand new bat, probably only used for about 20 swings during live hitting. During their first at-bat in a game, the two-piece connection of the bat cracked. However, the bat still had great pop.

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Goods One Piece is the end loaded, heavier version of the Voodoo One. Very similar design, a one piece alloy bat. You have a tiny market share that uses it; the popularity isn't as strong as the two piece simply because The Goods One Piece seems to rattle. If you don't hit it in the barrel's sweet spot, you can get a little feedback in the hands, a slight vibration. The Goods two-piece has a damper built in, so if you didn't hit it just right, it absorbed some of that vibration, whereas the one-piece doesn't have that technology. \

The brand embodies the spirit of both amateur and professional players aiming to elevate their game, and the Zoa showcases a commitment to pushing the boundaries of bat design.

* **3Fusion Connection:** Maximizes energy transfer to the barrel while minimizing vibration, for a feel that competitors simply can't match.
* **Lightweight Design**: Engineered for optimal weight distribution, providing a balanced swing path for increased control and bat speed.
* **Gapped Wall Technology:** Offers a larger sweet spot and a significant increase in power, giving players the confidence to swing for the fences.
* **Sleek Aesthetic with Enhanced Grip:** Features a unique, eye-catching design and a tacky grip for superior comfort and control during high-stakes at-bats.

### Top competitors comparison: the [Easton ADV 360](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/easton/adv-360/l59709) and the [Louisville Slugger Meta](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/louisville-slugger/meta/l59403)

The DeMarini Zoa Glitch is positioned to stand out in a crowded market of high-performance bats with its unique combination of technology and design. While bats like the Easton ADV 360 and the Louisville Slugger Meta are known for their innovative features and high standards of power and performance, the Zoa Glitch endeavors to set a new precedent with its gapped wall technology and 3Fusion Connection, offering players a blend of speed, power, and comfort that is uniquely DeMarini.

- Features similar to the standard Zoa model including the Continuous Fiber Composite Barrel.
- Limited availability

- Special edition "Glitch" variation released with unique aesthetics.

- Maintained features from the previous model.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Hardly an break in period with lots of pop. I also like the color design (didn't think I would).
* Seems to be a fairly hot bat out of the wrapper. Probably about 300 hits in on it.
* My son’s first at bat with this new bat was a homerun over the fence at 11 years old!!

**CONS**

* I purchased this bat a month or two ago and absolutely loved it. It has great pop and swings lightly. However, today, after only about 350 swings during normal batting practice, the bat telescoped, which is quite ridiculous as I have only heard of telescoping occurring after tapping the bat on the ground.
* Makes a weird rattling noise every time it touches the ground or hits the ball. Overall poor quality.
* I had this bat for a few weeks before it snapped in half at the handle.

### **Certification**: USSSA

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The Zoa is a two piece composite. Very good bat. It has a little bit of an end loaded feel to it. The Zoa glitch is the Zoa with a flashy new paint job. For around $50 more, you can get this special color. They survey the kids each year and ask, "What's your favorite color"? It doesn't make the bat perform any better. But you know a lot of it is fashion.

Voodoo Hybrid

## DeMarini Voodoo Baseball Bat

The DeMarini Voodoo is a popular bat known for its two-piece hybrid construction, combining an alloy barrel with a composite handle. This technological twist provides a sweet blend of pop, performance, and reduced hand sting for players—and has created some well-deserved hype for the Voodoo. Founded in 1989, DeMarini has emerged as an innovative designer for baseball bats at every level. The balanced swing weight and maximized pop of the Voodoo bat is proof of this progression.

**Perfect bat for:** Elite high school and collegiate players who want to maximize their hitting power without sacrificing speed and control.

### Key features include:

* **X14 Alloy Barrel:** Delivers a precision-engineered alloy for optimal weight distribution, providing a blend of speed, balance, and power.
* **3Fusion Connection:** Seamlessly integrates the barrel and handle, optimizing weight control while reducing vibration for an improved feel upon contact.
* **ReAction End Cap:** Increases barrel performance without sacrificing swing speed, allowing players to drive the ball with greater force.
* **Two-Piece Hybrid Construction:** Combines a robust alloy barrel with a composite handle, ensuring durability and comfort during intense play.
* **Tremendous Pop:** The Voodoo’s construction is designed to give hitters a satisfying “pop” sound upon contact, indicative of power and quality.
* **Balanced Swing Weight:** Engineered for optimal swing speed, making it easier for hitters to control their swings and hit with precision.

###
Top competitors comparison: [The Louisville Slugger Meta](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/louisville-slugger/meta/l59403) and the [Easton ADV 360](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/easton/adv-360/l59709)

The DeMarini Voodoo stands out primarily for its superior vibration reduction and balanced swing weight. The Louisville Slugger Meta is known for its composite barrel that provides a larger sweet spot, while the Easton ADV 360 features an ultra-light swing weight and custom Lizard Skins grip. The choice between these models often comes down to personal preference between a lean towards power (DeMarini Voodoo), sweet spot size (Louisville Slugger Meta), or customization and swing weight (Easton ADV 360).

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* I enjoy the balanced weight distribution of the bat in my hands.
* The bat has a really good swing weight, and I know it won't break easily.
* It has a fantastic pop and an excellent feel with no vibration at all.

**CONS**

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USSSA, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Voodoo is an older model. It's been discontinued and replaced by a new bat called The Goods. Both are very similar in design. The Voodoo is a heavier bat designed for larger players who want more power and distance. It's one of the better performers in that two-piece design; it's a composite handle with an alloy barrel, which means they call it a hybrid because it has both materials inside the bat (alloy and composite), giving it an enloaded feel.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My son loves the 30", 5oz Easton Fire bat. It's hot straight out of the wrapper and feels lighter than his old one. The colors are bold but the grip is great. It has a normal composite bat sound and a well-balanced swing with a lot of pop. Highly recommended.
* My son switched to Easton Hype Fire bat after being a fan of Marucci for years. He loves the huge sweet spot, lighter weight and tons of pop. According to him, it's the perfect bat for USSSA.
* I love to see the confidence this bat gives my son. He's a very strong hitter, but with this bat, I see him being more patient, trusting his swing more, and hitting harder balls.

**CONS**

* My son used this bat for about 2-3 months before small cracks in the bat started to form. He still used it because his old bat (30-inch -8 Demarini Zoa) was broken. It is an amazing bat but it probably won't last a full season in 13U baseball because of the speed.
* My son's new bat, a 30" (-8), has a small 1/2" crack after just two sessions of coach pitch BP with around 50 hits. It's brittle and we've never used it on a tee or machine. I'm surprised at how quickly it broke.
* I wish they were made stronger. It has great pop, great swing but the durability is lacking. Our original purchase cracked in a month and our replacement cracked in 2 months.

### Certification: USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Hype Fire is the hottest, lightest swinging bat right now. The swing rate is very fast. It's a balanced, two piece composite bat. The first ones that came out had some breakage issues but they are now on that bat's second gen. We've not seen any of the new ones breaking. And to top it all off, it has the coolest paint job. The flames are yellow, orange, and red. The players love that.

2023 is the first year of the Rawlings ICON.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- The Rawlings Icon is a beast on the field. Hits are powerful and consistent.

- The sweet spot on this thing is like a magnet for the ball. It's tough as nails and can take a beating, which is exactly what you need in the game.

- It's light and easy to swing. The ICON gives me control on the barrel. It feels lighter than other -3 bats. There is ZERO sting on this carbon composite. The ICON has a HUGE sweet spot and pop

**CONS**

- The stock grip is just kinda okay – not as sticky or comfy as I expected. It's no deal-breaker, though. Folks generally like to tweak their grips to suit their style.

- I'm not a big fan of the tapered knob on the ICON because I like to feel the handle more at the bottom (purely preference), but the handle feels fantastic.

- The barrel cracked at the base of the handle. Travel ball practice starts this week and his brand new Icon is useless.

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The ICON is the new hot bat from Rawlings. It's the top bat in the market right now. In terms of sales, very popular. You've got a lot of guys online doing reviews on it. I think the hype comes from the merger between Easton and Rawlings. They've got a lot of technology and have come up with a really strong-performing bat this season.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My 14-year-old son needed a new BBCOR bat. He likes the one he got as it swings light and the barrel seems huge, although it's very loud.
* My son has been swinging a Cat X composite. I was not seeing the bat speed I thought he should have by now, I bought him the Atlas and from the first swing I saw a difference on bat speed.
* Balanced bat with a massive sweet spot which makes it easy to catch barrel. As well as great improvements in durability.

**CONS**

* Loudest bat especially in cages. Bat has a rattle in it and we have only had it 3 months.
* The bat has so much vibration.
* Way to loud. It's distracting.

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Louieville Slugger Atlas is a newer bat that's been out for two years now. It's the next bat in the same generation as the Louisville Slugger Solo. It is a one-piece design, very easy to swing. Flashy paint job. It’s one of the top couple of bats in the alloy market.

- This bat has a huge sweet spot, is super forgiving on the hands, has no vibration in the handle, and is more durable than other bbcor bats.

**CONS**

- I purchased this bat a month ago. After hitting two foul balls, the bat got scratched beyond my expectations.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* This bat has a fantastic feel, sound, and performance on miss-hits. It boasts one of the largest sweet spots in BBCOR. Although it lacks feedback, it is very easy to swing.
* Great feel and pop. Although I usually change grips, the stock grip on this bat is solid. The durability is very impressive as well, as the bat has already outlasted most others.
* No failures on Meta bats except cosmetic chips. They perform better than new. High school varsity team used 32-3 for 2 years without issues. Change grip tape yearly and keep hitting!

**CONS**

* The finish will chip if hit against spikes.
* It's expensive.... and not crazy about the color.
* This bat has no pop.

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USSSA

### Expert Notes (Parker)

The Louisville Slugger Meta is still a slightly newer model. The meta is similar to the DeMarini CF which offers a lightweight composite handle with a huge barrel made for every sort of hitter. * Barrel profiles are reshaped for better balance, with a focus on data from the Baseball Performance Lab.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Decent pop and has good barrel control. It seems lighter due to the way it;s balanced. If you’re thinking of moving up in size, do it with this bat.
* I got my son the CAT X BBCOR 33" bat. He chose it over his Voodoo One for his high school varsity games. The CAT X seems well-built, and other players using it have had no issues. In contrast, two of his teammates' Voodoo One bats have already broken this season.
* The grip is cushioned and comfortable. The liquid gel handle reduces vibrations and the "sweet spot" on the barrel is forgiving. Highly recommend this bat.

**CONS**

* The BBCOR Cat X is by far the worst Marucci we've ever bought. It has NO Pop and sounds like he's hitting rocks with the bat. The ball barely leaves the infield when he hits it.
* Broken in by underhand toss of 160 pitches. Handle broke in a week. Wearing gloves saved the my son's hands.
* Unfortunately my son has been using this bat for only a few weeks and there is already something rattling in the handle.

### **Certification**: BBCOR and USSSA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

CATX came out in 2023. The first gen is a white ribbon silver bat. For the second run, Marucci came out with a version called the CATX Vanta. It's a blacked-out, limited-edition. Both gens are an alloy one-piece bat, both very strong performers. They took the alloy and strength from the CAT9 and applied the balance and feel from the CAT8 to develop the CATX.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Bought for son transitioning to BBCOR. Light and balanced. Good pop and sound. Great balanced BBCOR bat!
* Like cheating, it’s awesome! Whole barrel is super hot. 33” sweet spot
* Bat has huge sweet spot. Lots of pop!

**CONS**

* My son's bat grip is separating already. The bat lacks the usual sound of CatX or Cat8 bats. We paid extra for the grip, but it's coming apart fast.
* The price doesn't deserve more than 4 stars, but we appreciate the fast shipping and the name engraving.
* Bought this bat for my 14 year old, felt good during batting practice, but the second he hit the ball in game it broke in half! 500 dollars down the drain.

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The CAT X Composite is very, very easy to swing. Not quite as popular as the CF in terms of performance. There are newer Marucci bats out there that are stronger, hotter-performing bats. But it's still a top top-tier bat. It's right up there with the CAT9 composite, but it doesn't get the notoriety because you've got some newer bats on the market with cooler paint jobs.

### Top competitors comparison: [Easton ADV 360](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/easton/adv-360/l59709) and the [Louisville Slugger Solo](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/louisville-slugger/solo/l7816)

The rivals include the Easton ADV 360 and the Louisville Slugger Solo. The Marucci Cat 9 stands out due to its innovative AZR alloy construction, offering a unique combination of feel, performance, and durability that is tailored specifically for the developing player. While the Easton ADV 360 is prized for its 360-degree barrel tuning for precision across the entire barrel and the Louisville Slugger Solo is known for its ultra-balanced swing weight for ultimate swing speed, the Cat 9's multi-variable wall design and precision balancing mean it excels in providing young hitters with a powerful, yet manageable tool to enhance their game.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- Great for kids who need to "feel the barrel" during their swing. The ball jumps off this bat well. It has never collapsed and provides enough feedback to know how you hit it. Vibration is only felt when hitting the handle.

- "My 12-year-old son upgraded to a Marucci Cat 9 -5 bat from a 30" -8 bat and is hitting great with it. Although the bat is heavier, it is well-balanced and solid. Highly recommended for kids upgrading to a -5."

- Bought the Cat 9 BBCOR bat for my 13-year-old son. It's well-balanced and has good pop for a one-piece. Vibration-resistant knob helps with miss hits. My son loves it and is hitting the ball well.

**CONS**

- Good bat for my 10-year-old, but didn't hold up well in New England cold spring. Dead after one AAU season despite hard hits and dingers. Would have given 5 stars if it lasted longer.

- My son used this bat for 1 season and it has multiple dents in it. He is 12 and weighs about 70 pounds. Thought I would get more than 1 season out of the bat.

- Bought a bat for my 6-year-old son a year ago. It's good but lacks the power and balance of CATX Aluminum. Looking for sales to buy CATX.

### Certification: BBCOR

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

They took the same design from the CAT8 and strengthened the CAT9 with a stronger alloy to avoid any denting issues. It's a very good, durable bat. The CAT9 will be a bit heavier than the CAT8; it's a better bat for stronger kids. The first generation of the CAT9 came out with a gray, black, and red paint job. The second generation they called the Past Time, which was red, white, and blue. It's the same bat, but a different paint job. The second bat was more popular simply because of how it looked. Everyone likes the American Flag with its Stars and Stripes.
