Perfect head for: goalies

Key Features Include

  • Lightweight composition (weighing 323 grams)

  • Tapered stringing holes that offer greater customization options

Top Competitor Comparisons: the STX Eclipse 2 and the ECD Impact

The Nemesis 3, a popular choice for lacrosse goalies, squares off against the STX Eclipse 2 and ECD Impact, each offering unique advantages in protecting the net. The Nemesis 3 boasts a large surface area and a wide pocket, ideal for stopping high-velocity shots and offering ample coverage. However, it's also the heaviest of the three, which might impact mobility for some goalies. The STX Eclipse 2 counters with a lighter weight and stiffer build allowing quicker reactions and better control. Its smaller profile, though, offers slightly less coverage compared to the Nemesis. The ECD Impact attempts to find a middle ground, featuring a moderate weight, a balanced pocket size, and strategic sidewall cut-outs for improved mobility and weight reduction.

Progression:

The Nemesis lacrosse head series features three models: the Nemesis 1, the Nemesis 2, and the Nemesis 3. Here's a breakdown of their progression:

Nemesis 1

  • Introduced a stiffer construction for better stopping power
  • Featured a more traditional pocket design.
  • Received mixed reviews due to weight and stringing limitations.

Nemesis 2

  • Addressed weight concerns with a lighter design.
  • Maintained the stiffer construction for power.
  • Offered a more modern pocket shape for improved control.

Nemesis 3

  • Built on the success of the Nemesis 2, further reducing weight with "Sym-Rail Twist" technology.
  • Reinforced key sections for enhanced durability and reduced flex on saves.
  • Incorporated user feedback by adding more tapered stringing holes for greater customization and easier pocket formation.

What people are saying (edited for brevity and clarity)

PROS

  • Excited about the stiff head, similar to StringKing Mark 2G. Ideal for higher-level play with sleek design and options for stringing. May be too stiff for beginner goalies.
  • Great head very stiff and light and has a great face shape
  • My son found this head so light, it took a good day of practice to avoid moving past the ball after replacing his Guardian.

CONS

  • Expensive compared to other goalie heads. I feel the cost doesn't justify the offered features.
  • Though lighter than its predecessors, the Nemesis 3 is a bit heavy compared to my other heads like the STX Eclipse.
  • Minor cracking and a few chips after extended use

Expert Review (by Allen Melick)

The Nemesis 3 is the third generation in the Nemesis line. It’s a lighter head (almost 12 ounces) because goalies need to step to the ball and move their hands fast at awkward angles. They made this head a bit stiffer because when you save a harder shot, the head can flex back a little bit. With this model, they wanted to avoid that. It’s meant to be really stiff so that it doesn't flex as much and so the head can take more shots.
