Mark 3A review

The head is super narrow, so it is a bit hard to catch sometime. Softball will help. Overall, the head has a very consistent release and has lots of options when it comes to stringing. Solid on getting GB's aswell.

Amazing

As a guy who grew up before head spec changes this is the move. Really deep bottom rail. Crazy hold. Wildly accurate. Love this head

# StringKing Mark 2F Lacrosse Heads

The StringKing Mark 2F Lacrosse Head is a weapon for face-off specialists, meticulously crafted for domination at the X. Its selling points are a hybrid plastic construction, an angled scoop, and a shortened throat, which grants leverage for quicker reactions. Moreover, the high flare and straighter sidewall enhances ball control, which is crucial for winning the battle and securing possession.

The Mark 2F marks a pivotal moment in StringKing's history. Founded by two former college lacrosse players in Medfield, Mass., they initially focused on high-performance mesh, becoming synonymous with innovative stringing solutions. However, the release of the Mark 2F marked an ambitious foray into the competitive head market, explicitly targeting the face-off position. Its immediate success, embraced by elite face-off athletes, solidified StringKing's reputation as a significant player across the entire lacrosse equipment landscape.

### **Perfect head for:** face-offs

### Key Features Include

* Hybrid plastic for the perfect balance of flex and stiffness
* Shortened Throat for more leverage
* Higher flare and straighter sidewall for more control
* Angled scoop for attacking a loose ball from any angle
* Locking bolt installation
* Self-tapping screw installation

### Top Competitor Comparisons: the [ECD Weapon X](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/lacrosse/heads/east-coast-dyes/weapon-x/l10504) and the [Nike CEO 2](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/lacrosse/sticks/heads/nike/ceo-2-2/l11445)

Designed specifically for face-offs, the StringKing Mark 2F prioritizes control and ground ball dominance over the more versatile options like the Weapon X and Nike CEO 2. While the Weapon X and CEO 2 cater to various offensive midfield positions, the Mark 2F's stiffer construction and angled scoop excel at securing ground balls and winning face-offs. The Mark 2F's shorter throat also allows for increased leverage and better control during face-off battles. However, this specialization comes at the cost of versatility, as the Mark 2F's stiff pocket and design may not be ideal for other playing styles that require a wider range of motion and pocket flexibility.

### What people are saying (edited for brevity and clarity)

PROS

* Love this head. Got back into coaching and its bend (and return to shape) is way better than the heads I had back when I was playing in the early 2010s. Makes it easy when I’m working with guys on plungers and reverse clamps.
* Great faceoff head. Good flex and maintains its shape well. Scoop hoovers up ground balls.
* This head has an awesome flex point that lets me control my exits.

CONS

* The first time I played with it, the head snapped the first faceoff. The second head warped quickly and cracked again in 2 spots.
* Much more suitable for offensive players, not a good head for defensive use.

### Expert Review (by [Allen Melick](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/EmpireSports))

This is the face-off specialist of the Mark 2 family. This head is designed for players wanting the best control and durability. The Mark 2F has a shorter throat to make clamping faster and create a quicker reaction time. StringKing’s new material blends stiffness and flex. The Mark 2F also comes in a stiff version (15% stiffer). The shape retention is significantly better.

PROS

* Light and handles like a beast. Love this head.
* Easy to string and dye. My son loves the Mark 2A and has used it for a year now with no issues.
* Top attack head. I’d recommend any age player could use this head.

CONS

* Stringing requires a lot of trial and error. Look up online how to string this head.

While all aiming to equip well-rounded midfielders, the StringKing Mark 2V, Maverik Tactik 3.0, and STX Stallion 1K each cater to slightly different styles. The StringKing Mark 2V boasts exceptional versatility, offering a mid-pocket that balances powerful shots with controlled passing. Its stiff construction enhances ground ball control and allows for strong holds on the ball during powerful throws. The Maverik Tactik 3.0 prioritizes a blend of power and control through its mid-pocket design and diverse stringing options. It features a slightly less aggressive scoop compared to the Mark 2V, potentially impacting ground ball collection in contested situations. The STX Stallion 1K leans towards a more offensive-focused approach with its aggressive mid-high pocket designed to maximize power in shots. While it excels in generating raw power, it might offer less control on finesse plays compared to the Mark 2V and Tactik 3.0.

PROS

* This head has stood up to extensive play.
* With 29 holes, the stringing possibilities are endless. If you're a stringer, it truly allows you to hone in on what you seek to get out of the head.
* I am a 2-way middie, and this head has held up for a whole season and summer ball. Has not warped at all and is still very stiff.

CONS

* Spend some time ensuring front and back holes line up or you're in for a headache getting a good lock.
* Not a big fan of the of the proprietary string king head screw.
