TaylorMade Sim Max Golf Fairway Woods

The TaylorMade SIM Max Fairway Woods is designed for golfers who want forgiveness and distance off the fairway or tee. It features a V Steel sole to help you get the club out of tough lies and even on mishits, the SIM2 Max's C300 Steel face delivers explosive ball speeds for more distance and helps you avoid losing strokes due to off-center strikes. This makes it a forgiving club for golfers who may not consistently hit the center of the fairway wood. While forgiveness is a key feature, the SIM Max also offers a solid feel at impact that many golfers appreciate.

The Callaway Paradym X Fairway Wood is known for its exceptional forgiveness and distance. It features a large, titanium clubhead with Callaway's Jailbreak technology that stiffens the body at impact for more energy transfer to the ball. The Paradym X also has a movable hosel that allows you to adjust the loft and lie angle to fine-tune your launch and trajectory. The Titleist TSR2 Fairway Wood is designed for distance and accuracy. It features Titleist's Speed Chassis, a lightweight design that helps to maximize clubhead speed for longer shots. The TSR2 also has a variable face thickness technology that helps to improve ball speed on off-center hits.

Progression of the Sim Max fairway wood:

The TaylorMade SIM2 Max fairway wood (2021) is the successor to the TaylorMade SIM Max fairway wood, released in 2020. Here's a breakdown of the key upgrades:

  • Aerodynamics: The SIM2 Max features a more aerodynamic head design compared to the original SIM Max. This reduces drag during the swing, allowing for faster clubhead speed and potentially more distance.
  • Face Technology: The SIM2 Max boasts TaylorMade's V Steel technology in an updated design. This redistributes weight for better forgiveness while maintaining the low center of gravity for high launch that the original SIM Max was known for.
  • Material: The SIM2 Max utilizes a high-strength C300 steel face, which is lighter than the Carpenter Steel face in the original SIM Max.
  • Overall Forgiveness: By combining the V Steel redesign and the C300 steel face, the SIM2 Max aims to deliver even greater forgiveness on mishits compared to the original SIM Max.

👍 Pros
This thing is a monster. Goes higher and further than my Callaway 3 wood.
The ball is launched higher and much further for me. Love the design.
Even on mishits, I still get a great launch and the club face seems to gravitate the ball back to my aim line.
👎 Cons
The white paint chips and becomes distracting, not very durable.
The shape of the head is awkward, the feel and sounds of the drive muted.
The club feels very harsh. Even when hit right on the button, it still feels a bit dead.
The SIM Max is a hard club to hit. It's a mid-launch, so it doesn't go very high, which some golfers prefer. With this club, you really do have to hit it perfectly. It's for the more advanced golfer. And if you hit this club well, there will be no huge difference between the SIM and the SIM Max. Great clubs if you’re a confident ball striker.
